This is a developmental reading that potentially will include some staging, but the primary focus of this run is to develop the script in rehearsal for future production. We will be rehearsing both on zoom and in person through January 2025 in Manhattan/Brooklyn. Approximately 4-8 hours of rehearsal a week. Flexible schedule. Stipend information with character descriptions below.
SYNOPSIS:
In the Valley is an apocalypse romance set a thousand years from today, in a world of monsters, magic, and relics of the ancient oil fields. It follows the lives of Yan, a queer witch, and Brynjar, a man consumed in a religious cult crusade. Yan discovers Brynjar in the Valley after he’s mysteriously injured and left behind by his battalion. The two go through an epic love story of self discovery to learn the history of the world and what their lives look like in the grand scheme of everything.
CONTENT ADVISORY: This script involves themes of religious trauma and mentions suicide ideation/attempt.
