A world premiere for fuzzy, a new musical with a book and lyrics by Jeff Talbott and music and lyrics by Will Van Dyke, will make its world premiere at Massachusetts' Barrington Stage in the company's newly announced 2025 season. Ellie Heyman will direct the title on the St. Germain Stage, with performances running July 8-27. Opening night will be July 12.
The theatre is keeping details about the new work to a minimum, sharing in press notes that the show is "a little musical about all the big things—how we take care of each other and, in doing so, take care of ourselves, even if you are just a little fuzzy puppet."
The St. Germain Stage's season will begin with the regional premiere of Mario Correa's N/A, inspired by the relationship between Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes and Nancy Pelosi. The work, which premiered Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center last year, will play Barrington June 4-22 with opening night set for June 8. Rajiv Joseph's King James will follow fuzzy, in a new staging directed by Rob Ruggerio, co-produced with TheaterWorks Hartford and Round House Theatre. Performances will run August 12-31, with opening night set for August 16. The St. Germain season closes with another world premiere, May Treuhaft-Ali's The Yom Kippur Play, running September 16-October 12 and opening September 12. Sivan Battat will direct the work, which explores the experience of being a Jewish person of color.
Joining the previously announced revival of Camelot on the company's Boyd-Quinson Stage are Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground, with John Rubinstein reprising his performance in the title role from the Richard Hellesen play's premiere at New Los Angeles Repertory Company, performing June 3-8 and directed by Peter Ellenstein; and the regional premiere of Daniel Goldstein's Joan, centered on late comedian Joan Rivers and performing July 31-August 17. The latter opens June 29 and comes to Barrington from South Coast Repertory. David Ivers is directing.
Barrington Artistic Director Alan Paul is helming Camelot, which will perform June 25-July 19 and officially open June 29.
