Brittney Johnson—who made history February 14, 2022, when she became the first Black actor to assume the role of Glinda full-time in the Broadway company of Wicked—will star in a concert version of Mad Hatter The Musical April 16 at 3 PM at Montréal's Place des Arts Symphony Hall.

Johnson, starring as the Queen of Hearts, will be joined by Alice Fearn (Wicked) as Marybeth, the Mad Hatter's wife; co-creator Victor Valdez as Yola, the Cheshire Cat; Éléonore Lagacé as Bailey the Mouse (and French narration); co-creator Vincent Connor in the title role; and Terry Barber as the Caterpillar. Will Nunziata will narrate the story in English.

The artists will be backed by the Longueuil Symphony Orchestra.

Mad Hatter The Musical was penned by composer Michael J. Polo, book writer Connor, and songwriter Valdez. The concert, which will feature 24 songs from the show, will also have musical direction by Charlie Reuter.

The musical follows a disabled young man named Franklin Magellan, aka Mad Hatter. Audiences witness the hardships he endures until he finds his place in Wonderland. Franklin becomes enamored with his new life void of pain and sadness but descends into madness when he is accidentally sent back to his bleak life in London.

Alexandre da Costa produces.
