During the July 24 episode of TV Land’s Younger—five seasons in to the Sutton Foster-led comedy—the two-time Tony winner finally broke into song.
It’s Christmas in July, and Liza Miller (Foster) attends a Christmas party with her ex-husband and her daughter (played by Tessa Albertson), who begs that they perform their family tradition for the guests. Apparently, this was the musical theatre-loving family because the Miller tradition is to sing “The Lonely Goatherd” from The Sound of Music. Foster does her best Maria von Trapp, yodeling and all in the clip above.
Since the beginning of the series from Sex and the City creator Darren Star, 40-something Liza has been pretending to be 20-something in order to get and keep her job at a publishing house. Slowly, more and more people have found out about Liza’s secret, including her boss and would-be love interest Charles Brooks—who we see enter the party at the end of the clip.
