Watch the video above to see his rendition of the Jerry Herman staple “Before the Parade Passes By” from Hello, Dolly! with a Spanish translation by Javier Vilalta and a mariachi arrangement by Jaime Lozano.
“From Ranchera songs to zarzuela, I think we Hispanics have the range to tell stories within the origin of our language” shares Tadeo who has starred in Mexican productions of Godspell, Expreso Astral (Starlight Express), and El Hombre de La Mancha (Man of La Mancha).
With a multitude of Latiné playwrights, performers, composers, and creative artists working in the industry, Playbill is celebrating their rich heritage and contributions to the theatrical landscape by bringing their work to the forefront in this four-part series. The month-long celebration of Hispanic communities continues through October 15.
Next week’s episode will feature Broadway’s Taylor Iman Jones singing from the Mexican musical Anjou by Guillermo Mendez and Guadalupe Sandoval, with an English translation by Javier Vilalta.
