Today's World Theatre fact comes from Germany. Did you know that Starlight Express, the iconic Andrew Lloyd musical, is the longest-running musical in Germany? It's been playing continuously in Bochum, Germany since 1988, long after the show closed on Broadway and the West End. Also currently playing a revival in London, the musical, known for its actors performing on roller skates, portraying anthropomorphized trains in a high-speed race, has also played Las Vegas, Mexico City, as well as tours in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand! But it wasn't just roller skates. There was an ice-skating version in 1997.

Today's Special Discount: Playbill Binders

Explore the world of theatre using a Playbill Binder and preserve your theatrical memories in style. Choose between our compact 18-Playbill binder or our spacious three-ring binder that holds up to 24 Playbills. Either way, you'll enjoy having your favorite shows neatly organized and protected! Binders have a long history in America. While the first patents for loose-leaf paper and binders were filed in the United States in 1854, the first ring binder didn't appear until 1886 in Germany. Friedrich Soennecken, the inventor, also patented a hole punch that same year to complement his binder design.

Each episode will serve as a career retrospective, showcasing a theatre legend who revisits momentous productions in their Broadway career, while browsing through a collection of their productions’ Playbills in a Playbill Binder. Past guests have included Nathan Lane, Bebe Neuwirth, and Christian Borle.
