Seth Sklar-Heyn will direct the 2024 summer season opener at the outdoor regional theatre.

Rehearsals are underway for the Muny production of Les Misérables, which will open the theatre’s 106th season, running June 17-23 on the James S. McDonnell Stage in Forest Park, Missouri.

Directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn, the cast will also feature Jordan Donica as Javert, Teal Wicks as Fantine, Red Concepción as Thénardier, Jade Jones as Madame Thénardier, Ken Page as The Bishop of Digne, Emily Bautista as Éponine, Gracie Annabelle Parker as Cosette, Peter Neureuther as Marius, James D. Gish as Enjolras, Kate Kappel as Little Cosette, Grace Moore as Young Éponine, and Will Schulte as Petit Gervais/Gavroche.

The ensemble includes Lee H. Alexander, Leah Berry, Patrick Blindauer, Matías De La Flor, Chris Hunter, Dan Klimko, Ángel Lozada, Daniel Brooks McRath, Sydni Moon, Grant Pace, Sarah Pansing, Nicholas Pattarini, Tim Quartier, Shelby Ringdahl, Matt Rosell, Grace Marie Rusnica, Liv Shivener, Sydney Short, Cecilia Snow, Kyle Timson, Noah Van Ess, and Annie Zigman. The company will be joined by the Muny Kids and Muny Teens Youth Ensemble.

Les Misérables, previously produced at The Muny in 2007 and 2013, is based on the Victor Hugo novel and penned by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, and Herbert Kretzmer. The original New York production premiered at the Broadway Theatre March 12, 1987, and later moved to the Imperial October 17, 1990, where it played until May 18, 2003, for a total Broadway run of 11 previews and 6,680 regular performances. The musical was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical.

The Tony-winning score includes "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Stars," "Bring Him Home," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "One Day More," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Master of the House," and more.

The upcoming production will also have choreography by Jesse Robb, music direction by James Moore, associate musical direction by Michael Horsley, associate choreography by Paige Parkhill, scenic design by Ann Beyersdorfer, costume design by Gail Baldoni, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by John Shivers and David Patridge, video design by Shawn Duan, wig design by Ashley Rae Callahan, and production stage management by Willie Porter.
