Broadway's Vicki Lewis and John Scherer will lead the company of The Prom at New Jersey's Axelrod Performing Arts Center, running May 5–21.
Lewis and Scherer are starring as Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman (respectively), two narcissistic actors fresh off the flop musical Eleanor!: The Eleanor Roosevelt Story who insert themselves in a cause to repair their damaged public image. They will be joined by Emily McNamara as Angie Dickinson, Richard E. Waits as Principal Hawkins, Matt Hill as Trent Oliver, Lillian Belle Doll as Emma Nolan, and Emily Pellecchia as her prom date, Alyssa Green.
The company will be rounded out by Kyle Javon Blocker, Christina Claire, Christie Dabreau, Markos Eugenis, Danny Feldman, Joshua Kring, Sealth Grover, Jillian Ann Lee, Amanda Leigh Lupacchino, Laura Renee Mehl, Lauren Rathbun, Quincy Southerland, Alexandra Tarsinov, Matt Walsh, Grace Wolf, Nikki Yarnell and Hunter Yocom.
Said Scherer: “It’s a thrill to be reunited with Vicki Lewis onstage. She’s a brilliant comedian and singer and one of my closest friends. And to get to play these roles together in this hilarious and meaningful show is a dream come true!”
Directed by Todd Buonopane, the production will feature choreography by Brooke Engen and music direction by Michael Gilch. The creative team will include lighting designer Cameron Filepas, scenic designer Fred Sorrentino, costume designer Miranda Graves, sound designer Matt Feeney, prop designer Susan Bloir, wig designer Jason Hayes, and production stage manager Kellian Frank. The show is produced by Andrew DePrisco.
