Bertie Carvel, who earned a Tony Award earlier this year for his performance as Rupert Murdoch in Ink, has been tapped for BBC One’s upcoming adaptation of The Pale Horse. The two-part limited series, based on the Agatha Christie murder mystery, is currently filming in the U.K. with director Leonora Lonsdale at the helm.

Tony nominee and Olivier winner Rufus Sewell and Kaya Scodelario will star as Mark Eastebrook and Hermia, respectively, with Carvel playing Zachariah Osborne.

The Sarah Phelps-penned drama, according to Deadline, will also feature Sean Pertwee as Detective Inspector Lejeune, Henry Lloyd-Hughes as David Ardingly, Poppy Gilbert as Thomasina Tuckerton, Madeleine Bowyer as Jessie Davis, and Ellen Robertson as Poppy. Sheila Atim, who earned an Olivier Award for the Broadway-bound Bob Dylan musical Girl From the North Country, will join Rita Tushingham and Kathy Kiera Clarke as the trio of witches.

Rounding out the company are Sarah Woodward, Georgina Campbell, and Claire Skinner.

The project hails from Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited, who have previously brought the novelist’s The ABC Murders and Ordeal By Innocence to BBC.
