Nylon, a new play by To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before screenwriter Sofia Alvarez, will have its world premiere in March under the aegis of the newly-founded Blockchain Theater Project, an artist-driven theatre company funded, in part, by cryptocurrency donations.

Alvarez and Nicola Korzenko co-founded Blockchain Theater Project which operates on a peer-to-peer production model. Participating playwrights whose work is currently in production will nominate the next play/playwright to be produced.

Nylon will launch the program, with performances slated to run March 6–24. An official opening night has been set for March 9. Performances will take place at Theatrelab, located at 357 West 36th Street in Manhattan.

Knud Adams will direct a cast that features Sheila Vand, Cesar J. Rosado, Maggie Bofill, and Claire Siebers, with original music by Yeasayer’s Anand Wilder. The creative team also includes sets by Andrew Moerdyk, lighting by Kate McGee, costumes by Clara Fath, sound design by John Gasper, and original music by Anand Wilder, with Patrick Harnett-Marshall as production stage manager.

In the play, an estranged couple meet for the first time in four years. During this combustive encounter, their past is dredged to the surface in a way that ruptures their carefully constructed personas and sets in motion a psychological tennis match that threatens their respective futures as well of those of everyone around them.
