The Dramatists Guild has launched season five of The Dramatists Guild Presents: Talkback, the guild's podcast which explores the creation and community of the theatre industry. Christine Toy Johnson hosts, with new special guests from the industry joining her each episode.
Season five is made up of six episodes, and explores how the American theatre can expand the canon of which plays are taught, read, programmed, and considered classics. The season also discusses strategies to make space for new, diverse, and inclusive stories while continuing to reimagine preexisting ones.
Episode one, titled The Canon in Education, is available to download now. The episode features special guests Stephen Kaplan and Julianne Wick Davis. The remainder of the season includes The Canon and Global Language with Jason Ma and Diana Burbano, available October 30; Neurodiversity in the Canon with Harmon dot aut, available November 6; The Modern Canon with Joseph Haj, available November 13; Redefining Power in the Canon with Roger Q. Mason, available November 20; and The Future of Our Canon with Lynn Nottage and Lauren Gunderson, available November 27.
