New Jersey's George Street Playhouse has announced that Steve Gutternberg's comedy, Tales From the Guttenberg Bible, will have its world premiere in the space April 25 through May 21.
Written by and starring Guttenberg, the show features more than 90 characters as portrayed by five actors. Through the piece Guttenberg recounts his life, beginning with his childhood in Long Island, to the glamor of Hollywood, resulting in his starring roles in Three Men and a Baby, Police Academy, and Cocoon.
“This story has been swirling around my brain for years and I’ve gotten it out in pieces but now I feel the tale must be told," says Guttenberg. “My aim is to entertain and for people to learn what an actor really does to break in, break out and grab opportunity when the door opens."
The piece is directed by George Street Playhouse artistic director David Saint. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. Tales from the Guttenberg Bible is produced in association with Julian Schlossberg.
