Off-Broadway News Stereophonic Extends Off-Broadway World Premiere

Daniel Aukin directs the new work, which features songs by former Arcade Fire member Will Butler.

Following its opening night, the world premiere of David Adjmi's Stereophonic has extended performances Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons. Previews began October 6 ahead of an October 19 opening night, and the production will now run through December 17. Read the reviews here.

Directed by Daniel AukinStereophonic features original songs by Oscar nominee, Grammy winner, and former member of Arcade Fire Will Butler. Set in a music studio in 1976, the show follows an up-and-coming rock band recording a new album on the cusp of superstardom. The actors playing band members play the band's music live.

The cast includes Will Brill (Oklahoma!) as Reg, Andrew R. Butler (Rags Parkland Sings the Songs of the Future) as Charlie, Juliana Canfield (Fefu and her Friends) as Holly, Eli Gelb (Skintight) as Grover, Tom Pecinka (He Brought Her Heart Back in a Box) as Peter, Sarah Pidgeon (Tiny Beautiful Things) as Diana, and Chris Stack (Your Mother's Copy of the Kama Sutra) as Simon.

The creative team includes scenic designer David Zinn; costume designer Enver Chakartash; lighting designer Jiyoun Chang; sound designer Ryan Rumery; music director Justin Craig; vocal, text, and dialect coach Gigi Buffington; wig and hair designer Tommy Kurzman; and props supervisor Matt Carlin. Erin Gioia Albrecht is the production stage manager, and Andie Burns is the assistant stage manager.
