The Casting Society of America has announced nominations for its 2021 Artios Awards, celebrating the work of casting directors in theatre, film, and television. Among the productions nominated are leading 2020 Tony contenders Slave Play, The Inheritance, Jagged Little Pill, Moulin Rouge!, and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.
The awards for theatre are split into several categories: Broadway, Off-Broadway (denoted as “New York Theatre”), regional theatre, Los Angeles theatre, special performances, and tours.
Also among the nominees are several shows featuring stage favorites, like John Mulaney & The Sack Bunch Lunch in the Live Television Performance, Variety, or Sketch Comedy category and Lifetime's Patsy & Loretta starring Megan Hilty and Jessie Mueller. In addition, the casting team from Playbill’s Pride Plays festival in June 2020—comprised of James Calleri, Erica Jensen, and Paul Davis—scored a nod for Special Theatrical Performance.
