Broadway stars will join a lineup of singers, writers, and comedians at the latest in the Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out! series, set for San Francisco June 24.
Tony Award winners Alan Cumming (Cabaret) and Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls) will appear with Jane Lynch (Annie), Kevin Chamberlin (Seussical), Rory O’Malley (Hamilton), Shoshana Bean (Wicked), and concert organizer Seth Rudetsky (Disaster!) at the Curran Theatre.
Other guest performers include actor Sharon Gless (Cagney & Lacey), jazz singer Paula West, operatic tenor Pasquale Esposito, actor Hal Sparks (Queer as Folk), Tales of the City author Armistead Maupin, playwright-comedian Marga Gomez, actor Kate Flannery (The Office), and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus
The celebrities are gathering to help raise money for five national organizations working to protect human rights in these challenging political times. This will be the sixth concert in the monthly series, created by Rudetsky and James Wesley, benefits The Southern Poverty Law Center, National Immigration Law Center, The Sierra Club Foundation, NAACP, and National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Participating performers are subject to change.
Rudetsky, a Playbill columnist and Sirius/XM radio personality, will host the 7 PM concert, which features songs, comedy, and commentary. The Concert for America series, which originated at Town Hall in Manhattan and has performed editions in Chicago and elsewhere, will hold its July 6 edition at 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.
