
The 8 PM concert, an evening of all original music, will feature Taub on lead vocals and also include performances from Carrie Manolakos (Wicked, Mamma Mia!), Ato Blankson-Wood (Hair, Lysistrata Jones), Damon Daunno (Brief Encounter), Etai BenShlomo (Wicked), Jo Lampert (Williamstown's The Last Goodbye), Grace McLean (Williamstown's The Last Goodbye), Kate Ferber, Alex Goley and Mike Brun.
The ten-piece band will include Justin Goldner (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) on bass, Hiroyuki Matsuura on drums, Adam Stoler on guitar and Dave Melton on piano.
Taub's folk-funk opera, The Daughters, was developed last summer at Mark Brokaw's Yale Institute of Music Theater, featured in the 2010 NAMT Songwriter's Showcase, workshopped at CAP21 Theater Company and was a 2011 Richard Rodgers Awards finalist. The performer recently received a Macdowell Fellowship and commission to write a musical for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
The New York-based singer-songwriter's EP, entitled "What Otters Do," is described as an electic six-song collection, which features the songs "Make A Mess," "Wet Shoes Waltz," "The Tale of Bear and Otter," "Lost Mornings," "Ease" and "The Bridge." The EP will be available Aug. 29 for digital download as well as on Taub's website, www.shainataub.com.
