NETworks Presentations will again present a limited national tour of Elf the Musical, which will launch November 2 in Richmond, Kentucky, before visiting nine cities across the country, including Detroit, New Orleans, and Charlotte.
Sam Scalamoni will direct the holiday tour with choreography by Connor Gallagher.
The non-Equity production will be led by Jackson Reagin as Buddy and Tara Nicole Vinson as Jovie. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Based on the 2003 New Line Cinema film starring Will Ferrell, Elf features a book by Tony winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), with songs by Tony nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). The musical made its Broadway debut in 2010 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and returned there in 2012.
Elf follows Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag and is transported to the North Pole. Unaware that he is human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, he embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the meaning of Christmas.
The tour will also have scenic design by Christine Peters, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Paul Miller, sound design by Shannon Slaton, wig and hair design by Bernia Ardia, orchestrations by Doug Besterman, music supervision by Michael Gildin, and casting by Wojcik Casting.
