Classic Stage Company's 2023-2024 season—the first programmed by new Producing Artistic Director Jill Rafson—will launch in the fall with a revival of the 1962 musical I Can Get It for You Wholesale, which marked the Broadway debut of Barbra Streisand.

Trip Cullman (Choir Boy) will direct a cast that features Tony winner Santino Fontana (Tootsie) and Tony nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, Chess). Additional casting will be announced.

Featuring a book by Jerome Weidman, based on his novel, and music and lyrics by Harold Rome, the upcoming production will feature a revised libretto by Weidman’s son, John Weidman (Pacific Overtures, Assassins).

The musical is set in 1937 in New York City's Garment District and follows Bronx-born shipping clerk Harry Bogen (Fontana), who must choose between the comfort of community and his own ambitious dreams.

The season will continue in winter 2024 with Fiasco Theater’s production of William Shakespeare's Pericles, directed by Ben Steinfeld. Fiasco Theater returns to CSC after its 2017 production of Twelfth Night.

The season will conclude in spring 2024 with Alice Childress’ Wine in the Wilderness. Tony winner LaChanze, most recently seen on Broadway in a Tony-nominated performance in Childress’ Trouble in Mind, will make her New York directorial debut with the production. The 1964-set Wine in the Wilderness is a celebratory look at the complexities of Black womanhood.

“I’m thrilled to be sharing the exact blend of shows I had hoped to bring to CSC’s beautiful and unique space,” says Rafson. “My vision for CSC is to share fresh looks at the theatrical canon we know and love, while also introducing plays and musicals that reflect what the canon could be. Giving these works a chance to be in conversation with one another should add up to a season that is vital, engaging, and full of new discoveries.”
