Newly released production shots are giving us our first look at a new U.K. and Ireland tour of international hit musical Wicked, officially launching December 7 at Edinburgh Playhouse.
The 13-month tour of cities in England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland will subsequently play the Bristol Hippodrome, Birmingham Hippodrome, Bradford Alhambra Theatre, Southampton Mayflower Theatre, Liverpool Empire, Dublin Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Sunderland Empire, Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre, and Manchester Palace Theatre.
The cast is led by Laura Pick as Elphaba, Sarah O’Connor as Glinda, Carl Man as Fiyero, Donna Berlin as Madame Morrible, Simeon Truby as The Wizard and Doctor Dillamond, Jed Berry/Daniel Hope as Boq, Megan Gardiner as Nessarose, and Casey Al-Shaqsy as the Standby for Elphaba.

The ensemble comprises Thomas Charles, Julie Cloke, Charlotte Coggin, Freddie Conway, Áine Curran, Jade Davies, Kamau Davis, Russell Dickson, Maddison Firth, Lydia Gerrard, James Gower-Smith, Shoko Ito, Holly Lawrence, Nick Len, Stephanie Lindo, Will Lucas, Will Luckett, Rozz Mbwembwe, Georgia McElwee, Conor O’Hara, Shereen Osman, Stuart Rouse, Christina Shand, Adam Stickler, and Frazer Woolcott.
The West End and Broadway musical, which tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, continues its open-ended runs at, respectively, London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre and Broadway's Gershwin.

Wicked began previews on Broadway October 8, 2003, with an official opening October 30. The original cast included Tony winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth as, respectively, the green-faced, misunderstood Elphaba and the curly-locked Glinda. Wicked has subsequently been performed in over 100 cities in 16 countries. The international hit musical, the fourth longest-running production in Broadway history, recently celebrated 20 years on the Main Stem.

The work, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, is based on the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire.
The Joe Mantello-helmed production features musical staging by Wayne Cilento, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, wig and hair design by Tom Watson, music supervision and arrangements by Stephen Oremus, orchestrations by William David Brohn, and dance arrangements by James Lynn Abbott.
Wicked won 2004 Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (Menzel), Best Costume Design (Hilferty), and Best Scenic Design (Lee).
