In addition to Benko (Tales from Red Vienna), Roberts ("Dallas Buyer's Club," "The Walking Dead") and Ruff (All The Way), the cast includes Susannah Flood (Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play), Erin Gann (Apple Cove), Arliss Howard (Joe Turner’s Come and Gone), Alex Hurt (The Caucasian Chalk Circle), Mia Katigbak (Awake and Sing!), Emma Ramos (A Crucible) and Carmen Zilles (Adoration of the Old Woman).
According to NYTW, "In this highly theatrical production of Ingmar Bergman's popular 1974 film 'Scenes from a Marriage,' an ensemble of virtuosic actors invites audiences into an intimate space to experience collectively the human dynamics of a relationship through all the stages of a life – from youth, to middle age to maturity. Van Hove’s interpretation illuminates the universal themes of love, identity and vulnerability that are at the heart of Bergman’s timeless film."
Scenes from a Marriage has production design by Jan Versweyveld and dramaturgy by Bart van den Eynde. Van Hove has staged acclaimed productions at the New York Theatre Workshop (More Stately Mansions, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Little Foxes, The Misanthrope), as well as the Brooklyn Academy of Music with Toneelgroep Amsterdam in recent years, including Husbands, Opening Night, Cries and Whispers. He also helmed the world premiere opera of Brokeback Mountain.
New York Theatre Workshop is located at 79 East 4th Street. Visit nytw.org for more information.
Based on the 1985 film, the musical centers on teenager Marty McFly when he is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by Dr. Emmett Brown.
