The play, about a political couple embroiled in turmoil, is being produced by The Company Theatre and will officially open at the Berkeley Street Theatre Nov. 19, set to play through Dec. 13.
Domesticated had its world premiere Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater in 2013 starring Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Goldblum. The play follows politician Bill Pulver, played by Gross, whose reputation is damaged when he is found at the bedside of an injured prostitute. Burns plays his dedicated but not dependent wife, Judy. The Company Theatre co-artistic director Philip Riccio directs.
"Paul Gross and Martha Burns are both brilliantly talented and totally distinct," said Riccio in an earlier press statement. "Neither of them is afraid to push a performance to the edge, which in the context of Bruce Norris’ play has the potential to be incendiary."
Norris was awarded the Tony Award for Best Play for his 2012 critically acclaimed hit Clybourne Park, also recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The cast in Toronto also features Torri Higginson, Sarah Dodd, Maria Vacratsis, Salvatore Antonio, Akosua Amo-Adem, Nicola Lipman, Kelly McNamee, Abigail Pew and Vanessa Smythe. Nicholas Blais is set designer with lighting design by Kevin Lamotte, costume design by Ming Wong, sound design by Thomas Ryder Payne, projection design by Cameron Davis and Michael Sinclair as stage manager.
