Additional performers and collaborators have been announced to participate in The 24 Hour Musicals, which will take place October 29 at the American Airlines Theatre. This year’s event benefits The Lillys and will pay homage to the women who are changing the landscape of American theatre, with appearances by Lynn Nottage, Lisa Kron, Stacey Mindich, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Todd London, and Sarah Ruhl.
Joining the evening are directors Carolyn Cantor, Kathleen Marshall, Robert O’Hara, and Kate Whoriskey, who will collaborate with writers Aimee Mann, Ashley Nicole Black, Amanda Green, Kirsten Childs, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Rona Siddiqui to write, compose, direct, and rehearse four original 15-minute musicals within the span of 24 hours.

Tapped to premiere the new musicals are Bebe Neuwirth, Dee Roscioli, Jackie Cruz, Jose Llana, Miriam Shor, Molly Ringwald, Norm Lewis, Patti Murin, Savion Glover, and Will Swenson, who join the previously announced John Mulaney, Jordan Roth, and Lea Delaria. Kate Rockwell, previously announced to participate, is no longer able to do so.
The theatrical marathon, inspired by The 24 Hour Plays, assembles teams of writers and directors at random at 11 PM on the evening prior to the performance. The creative teams must complete the book and score by the time the actors arrive at 9 AM the next morning. They must be ready to perform in front of a live audience by 8 PM that evening.
Zac Zinger will lead the orchestra for the evening, and Sarah O’Gleby and Rick and Jeff Kuperman are choreographers.
