Six-time Obie winner David Greenspan will star in Joey Merlo's On Set With Theda Bara this February as a part of the Exponential Festival.

Staged February 1–8 at Brooklyn's Brick Theatre, the one-person show will be directed by Jack Serio. Centering on a missing genderqueer teen and their gay detective father, the show blends traditional coming-of-age narratives and psychological debates around identity politics through the medium of real-life silent film star Theda Bara, commonly cited as the first cinema vamp.

Bara was one of the most famous women of her era, known as the first on-screen sex symbol, whose cunning characterization changed how women were perceived in the entertainment industry. Bara made more than 40 films over a period of two decades, but only six have survived, with her most famous work, the 1917 epic Cleopatra, existing only in a few seconds of footage.

On Set With Theda Bara will include scenic design by Frank J. Oliva, costume design by Avery Reed, lighting design by Stacey Derosier, and sound design by Brandon Bulls.
