New York Theatre Workshop has indefinitely postponed their planned production of Three Sisters, newly adapted by Clare Barron. Originally announced for the Off-Broadway company's 2019-2020 season, the production was to have been directed by Tony winner Sam Gold and star Oscar Isaac and Greta Gerwig.

Following delays caused by the spread of COVID-19, the company had hoped the production would happen in summer 2023. NYTW is citing "new scheduling conflicts" as the cause of this most recent and final postponement, saying in a statement: "NYTW hopes to be able to bring this new production to the stage in a future season and joins the community in the disappointment of this second postponement."

The theatre will not replace the production in its season, rendering the company's 2022-2023 season shortened to four productions. The Off-Broadway venue is currently home to How to Defend Yourself through April 2. The Half-God of Rainfall will close the abbreviated season this spring.

But Isaac fans can see the beloved Star Wars actor on stage right now, opposite Rachel Brosnahan in The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window Off-Broadway at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
