New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' 44th season kicks off October 27–28 with Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Yeomen of the Guard at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (East 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues).
Artistic Director Albert Bergeret conducts and directs.
The cast includes Daniel Greenwood as Col. Fairfax, James Mills as Jack Point, David Auxier as Lieutenant of The Tower, Richard Holmes as Sergeant Meryll, Laurelyn Watson Chase as Elsie Maynard, Angela Christine Smith as Dame Carruthers, Matthew Wages as Wilfred Shadbolt, and Abigail Benke as Phoebe Meryll.
The operetta tells the story of a falsely accused prisoner in the Tower of London, the two girls who loved him, and an out-of-work itinerant jester in grand and colorful fashion with humor and a touch of pathos.
The creative team also includes co-director and choreographer Auxier and directorial associate Mills.
The production has costumes by Gail J. Wofford and Jan Holland, sets by Rick Manfredi and Albère, and lighting by Benjamin Weill.
Tickets start at $25. For more information visit nygasp.org or call (212) 772-4448.
