News Musical Numbers for Hairspray Live! Revealed The track listing for the NBC television event soundtrack has been released.

Hairspray Live! Original Soundtrack of the NBC Television Event is now available for pre-order on Amazon, and the musical numbers for the NBC live event have been released.

According to Amazon, the second act opening number on Broadway, “The Big Dollhouse,” has been cut from the live broadcast. Numbers written specifically for the 2007 musical film that have been added to the NBC live broadcast include “Ladies’ Choice” and “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go)”; “The New Girl in Town” and “Big, Blonde, and Beautiful (Reprise),” songs added to the 2007 film, did not make the cut for the NBC live show.

Songs that did not make the 2007 musical film that have been reinstated for the NBC live show are “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now,” “Velma’s Revenge,” “Good Morning Baltimore (Reprise),” and “Cooties.” (“Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now” and “Cooties” were played over the films credits but not in the movie itself.)

As previously reported, songwriter Marc Shaiman told press, “There’s one or two things from Broadway that are not included, and there’s maybe one or two things written for the movie that are not included. … It will be very nice to see it all put together as one.”

Co-writer Scott Wittman told press that Harvey Fierstein, who is also working on a revised book for the live broadcast, has done a “wonderful job of sort of reshuffling the cards” with the script.

Hairspray Live! will hit television screens December 7 on NBC.
