Hershey Felder's Monsieur Chopin begins performances Off-Broadway November 16. The play with music centers on the music and romantic life of pianist-composer Fryderyk Chopin. The work will run at 59E59 Theaters through December 24.
Directed by Joel Zwick, Felder stars as Chopin in the recounting of the Polish pianist-composer's life, set in his Parisian salon where he will teach a piano lesson that actually took place in March 1848, just days after the February 1848 revolution. As the piano lesson unfolds, Chopin unfolds his own psyche, revealing secrets about not only the art of the piano and composition, but secrets about himself. Monsieur Chopin will feature the music of the titular composer, with writing by Felder.
