Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s 30-year-old Stackner Cabaret will undergo major renovations thanks to two major grants.
Since 1987, the Rep has used the Stackner as a venue for its smaller-scale productions, which include Souvenir; The Song Is My Story; and Always, Patsy Cline.
The renovations, which will increase seating capacity by over 35 percent, will also address infrastructure issues at the venue, a completely new kitchen, and maximizing space and opportunity within the venue and the lobby.
The Stackner Cabaret renovations are funded in part by two grants totaling $1 million: a $750,000 gift by former Board President Vince Martin and his wife Jan, and a $250,000 gift from the Stackner Family Foundation.
The Rep states that renovations will not affect programming for the previously announced 2017-2018 season.
