A handful of performers from the Donmar Warehouse production of Sweat will join the previously announced Martha Plimpton in reprising their performances in the West End. Performances will run June 7 through July 20 at London’s Gielgud Theatre.
In addition to Plimpton as Tracey, the London company of Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer-winning play includes Leanne Best as Jessie, Osy Ikhile as Chris, Wil Johnson as Brucie, Stuart McQuarrie as Stan, Clare Perkins as Cynthia, Sule Rimi as Evan, and Sebastian Viveros as Oscar.
Lynette Linton directs the exploration of America’s working class; her staging features sets and costumes by Frankie Bradshaw, lighting by Oliver Fenwick, and sound design and original music by George Dennis. Casting is by Amy Ball.
The drama was recently nominated for Best New Play at the 2019 Olivier Awards, to be held April 7.
