Stage and screen star Linda Purl (Happy Days, The Office) will star in Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking at London's The Other Palace May 31-June 4.
Jenny Sullivan will direct the production, based on Didion's award-winning memoir of the same name. Purl has performed the solo show in 13 different venues across the U.S.
In the stage adaptation, Didion transforms the story of the sudden and unexpected loss of her husband and their only daughter into a powerful narrative of the ultimate triumph of the human spirit.
Purl has been seen on Broadway in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Getting and Spending and Off-Broadway in Mr. Toole, The Baby Dance, and Hallelujah! Hallelujah! She has performed regionally at such venues as Long Wharf, The Old Globe, Mark Taper Forum, South Coast Repertory, Santa Fe Opera, Cleveland Playhouse, Westport Playhouse, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Laguna Playhouse,
Vanessa Redgrave starred in the 2007 Broadway debut of The Year of Magical Thinking at the Booth Theatre. Directed by David Hare, the production received a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Play.
