As awards season picks up, two stars with a theatrical flair sat down to talk their big-screen breakouts, social media, and a certain musical that takes place over roughly 525,600 minutes.

In the video below, Mary Poppins Returns star Lin-Manuel Miranda and A Star Is Born’s Lady Gaga chat as part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series. In the midst of discussing Rob Marshall’s MGM musical sensibility and performing live with Bradley Cooper, Miranda asked Gaga if she’d ever check Broadway off her list.

“Check. I’d love that,” she insisted. “That was my dream. I think I’ve seen Rent probably 30 times.” Miranda chimed in, noting that the Jonathan Larson musical was what inspired him to become a composer himself.

Naturally, Gaga admitted to relating to eccentric performer Maureen. “I’m staring at Maureen as she’s belting. I just want to be Maureen.” In fact, she was apparently close to it, as she went in for a national tour before her pop career ignited.

Gaga admitted to the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning composer she would also love to write for Broadway, and is confident she could. “You know why? Because for many years, record executives told me I was ‘too theatre.’ That’s all they told me.”

“Any record executive using theatre as a pejorative—you know you’re dead to me, right?” added Miranda to the camera.
