Regional News Lauren Yee's Cambodian Rock Band Begins at Arena Stage July 19

Directed by Chay Yew, the work comes to the Washington, D.C. theatre following a 2020 Off-Broadway debut.

Lauren Yee's Cambodian Rock Band begins a run at Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage July 19, with performances continuing in the Kreeger Theatre through August 27.

The work, which features songs by Dengue Fever, comes to Arena following a 2020 Off-Broadway premiere at Signature Theatre. Arena's run is part of a mini-regional theatre tour, co-produced by Arena Stage, Alley Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and ACT Theatre/5th Avenue.

Featured in the cast are Brooke Ishibashi as Neary and Sothea, Francis Jue as Duch, Abraham Kim as Rom and Journalist, Tim Liu as Ted, Cadre, and Leng, Jane Lui as Pou and S21 Guard, and Joe Ngo as Chum. Rounding out the company as understudies are Kelsey Angel Baehrens, Alex Lydon, and Vi Tran.

Chay Yew directs, with set design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by David Weiner, sound design by Mikhail Fiksel and Megumi Katayama, and projection design by Five Ohm Productions. Jane Lui and Matt MacNelly are music supervisors and co-music directors.
