The Fiddler on the Roof lyricist passed away in June 2023 at the age of 99.

A host of Broadway favorites will take part in an upcoming evening celebrating the life and legacy of late Pulitzer Prize-winning lyricist Sheldon Harnick April 30 at 54 Below.

The 7 PM and 9:30 PM concerts, featuring different performers, will celebrate what would have been Harnick's 100th birthday.

The 7 PM concert will feature Kate Baldwin (Hello, Dolly!), Tony winner Laura Benanti (She Loves Me), Allison Blackwell (New York, New York), Robert Cuccioli (Rothschilds and Sons), Edmund Gaynes (The Body Beautiful), Tony winner Cady Huffman (The Producers), Adam Kantor (Fiddler on the Roof), Austin Pendleton (Fiddler on the Roof), Neva Small (Fiddler on the Roof), and Mary Stout (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast).

The 9:30 PM show will include Drama Desk Award winner Jim Brochu (Zero Hour), Stephen Mo Hanan (Cats), Jessica Hecht (Fiddler on the Roof), Penny Fuller (Rex), Timothy Jerome (The Rothschilds), Richard Kind (Bounce), Liz Larsen (Fiddler on the Roof), Craig Lucas (Prelude to a Kiss), Howard McGillin (Parade), and Bistro Award winner Christine Pedi (Chicago).

Deborah Grace Winer will host the concerts, which will be directed and produced by Robert W. Schneider.

Matthew Harnick, the son of the late Harnick, said in a statement, “My mother and I are thrilled that 54 Below has chosen to honor what would have been my father’s 100th birthday with a fabulous event featuring songs which span his entire career, some of which are relatively unknown. Please join us on this very special night.”

Sheldon Harnick was nominated for nine Tony Awards, winning three for the productions of Fiorello! (1960) and Fiddler on the Roof (1965). In 2016, he received a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre plus the Drama League Award for Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre, and a Special Lifetime Achievement Award from The Outer Critics Circle.
