Cabaret & Concert News LaChanze, Andrew Rannells, Stephanie J. Block, More Set for 50 Years of Broadway at the Kennedy Center James Monroe Iglehart will host the upcoming performances celebrating five decades of musical theatre at the D.C. venue.

A host of Broadway favorites will be part of 50 Years of Broadway at the Kennedy Center, which will be presented February 11–12 at 7:30 PM in the Kennedy Center Opera House.

Hosted by Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart, soon to join the Broadway cast of Chicago, the concerts will pay homage to the legacy of Broadway musicals at the Kennedy Center, including a tribute to the late Stephen Sondheim.

Directed by Marc Bruni with musical direction by Emmy winner Rob Berman and choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, performers include Tony winner Stephanie J. Block (The Cher Show), Alfie Boe (Les Misérables), Sierra Boggess (School of Rock), Tony winner Gavin Creel (Hello, Dolly!), Grammy winner Christopher Jackson (Hamilton), Tony winner LaChanze (Trouble in Mind), Tony winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Tony nominee Norm Lewis (Porgy and Bess), Tony nominee Andrew Rannells (Falsettos), Tony winner Frances Ruffelle (Les Misérables), Tony nominee Vanessa Williams (Into the Woods), and Tony nominee Tony Yazbeck (Flying Over Sunset). Additional casting will be announced.

“I am thrilled to bring these incredible artists together to celebrate Broadway at the Kennedy Center,” says Kennedy Center Vice President and Executive Producer of Theater Jeffrey Finn. “As the pre-Broadway home for iconic musicals including Pippin, Annie, and Les Misérables; the launching place for Kennedy Center-produced Broadway revivals such as Ragtime and Follies; and the producer of events like the Sondheim Celebration and Broadway Center Stage shows, there is so much great material to showcase. I could not be more excited for these stars and our amazing artistic team to bring it to life in this special event.”

50 Years of Broadway at the Kennedy Center will also have set and projection design by Paul Tate DePoo III, lighting design by Cory Pattak, sound design by Dan Moses Schreier, and costume design by Alejo Vietti.
