Television and film star Katie Holmes will return to the stage this winter in the New York premiere of Anna Ziegler's The Wanderers at Roundabout Theatre Company.
Previews for the Off-Broadway production will begin January 26, 2023, at the Laura Pels Theater in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The limited engagement will officially open February 16 and run through March 26.
The Wanderers takes a look at marriage through newlyweds Esther and Schmuli, who are Orthodox Jews, and Abe, a secular Jew whose own marriage is challenged by an out-of-the-blue email from movie star Julia Cheever (Holmes). Barry Edelstein will direct.
Holmes made her Broadway debut in the 2008 revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons and returned to the Main Stem in 2012 for Theresa Rebeck's Dead Accounts. Her television career launched with the teen drama Dawson's Creek, on which she appeared for six seasons. Holmes' film credits include The Ice Storm, Pieces of April, and, most recently, Rare Objects with her own production company Lafayette Pictures.
Ziegler made her Roundabout premiere in 2017 with her play The Last Match, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch.
The remaining cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.
