Two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin stars as Marmee in a new concert production of Little Women at Connecticut Stage Company in New Canaan, Connecticut, beginning April 27. A second performance will be offered April 28.
The cast also includes Kennedy Caughell (Wicked) as Jo, Kelly Gabrielle Murphy as Meg, Francesca Mehrotra as Beth, Carla Rose DiPietro as Amy, Ethan Riordan as Laurie, Michael F. McGuirk as Professor Bhaer, Jack Shapiro as John Brooke, and William Squier as Mr. Laurence.
Based on the classic Louisa May Alcott novel, Little Women features a book by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and music by Jason Howland. The story follows the four March sisters through a tumultuous life in Civil War-era Massachusetts. The work played a brief run on Broadway in 2005, and has since become a favorite at schools and regional theatres.
Kate Simone is directing the Connecticut concert performances, with Ari Goldbloom-Helzner serving as music director and Chris Mcniff choreographing. Lorah Haskins is executive producer, with New Canaan Library serving as co-producer.
