Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts will present a staged reading of The Great American Mousical, based on the children's book by Julie Andrews and daughter Emma Walton Hamilton, August 22 at 7 PM in Sag Harbor.
Part of the Music Mondays series, the evening will be directed by Oscar winner Andrews. The cast will feature Tony winner Debra Monk as Adelaide, Howard McGillin as Henry/Father, Jonathan Freeman as Harold, Hope Hamilton as Pippin, Victoria Huston-Elem as Toby, Derrick Davis as Sky/Scud, Kyrie Courter as Wendy, Raymond J. Lee as Curly/Ping, Rachel Parker as Rose, Clyde Voce as Hysterium, Ryan M. Hunt as Emile/Uncle Bernie/Fausto, and Cecelia Ticktin and Adelaide Mestre in the ensemble. Stage directions will be read by Stephen Hamilton.
The reading will be followed by a talkback with Andrews and Bay Street Theater Co-Founder Hamilton.
The Great American Mousical has music by Zina Goldrich, lyrics by Marcy Heisler, and a book by Hunter Bell. The musical concerns a troupe of theatrical mice who live and perform in a miniature world beneath Broadway.
The creative team also includes choreographer Christopher Gatelli, music assistant Joe Thalken, producer Coy Middlebrook, associate producer Hamilton, stage manager Noam Lautman, and administrative and production assistant Stefanie Anarumo.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Bay Street Theater’s development of new works and training of future artists-to-be.
