John Leguizamo’s solo play Latin History for Morons, which played an extended Broadway run last season, will launch a U.S. national tour June 20 at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem.
The tour will play more than 15 cities across the U.S. with dates planned in Minneapolis, Atlanta, Miami, Philadelphia, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
Directed by Tony Taccone, Latin History for Morons traces the marginalization of Latinos in U.S. history and the vital roles they played—from a satirical recap of Aztec and Incan history to stories of Latin patriots in the Revolutionary and Civil War and beyond.
Leguizamo’s Latin History for Morons was the recipient of a 2018 Special Tony Award.
A live recording of the Broadway production premiered on Netflix last November. Leguizamo and Taccone's latest collaboration, the new musical Kiss My Aztec!, premieres at Berkeley Repertory Theater in May.
