Jill Sobule's F*ck7thGrade has been set in celluloid. The Off-Broadway hit, which was a 2023 Drama Desk nominee for Outstanding Musical, will release an original cast recording later this year.

Set to be released June 6, the album's release will coincide with both Pride Month and the 30th Anniversary of Sobule’s 1995 landmark self-titled album, featuring her hit song “I Kissed A Girl” (the first openly gay-themed song ever to crack the Billboard Top 20) and the alt-rock anthem “Supermodel”, which was featured in the film Clueless. Sobule's self titled album will be rereleased alongside F*ck7thGrade's cast recording.

Sobule conceived and penned the musical's music and lyrics, with Liza Birkenmeier writing the book. Lisa Peterson directed, with music direction is by Julie Wolf.

Described as a "queer musical memoir," F*ck7thGrade featured Sobule, Wolf, Kristen Ellis-Henderson, and Nini Camps.

The production featured scenic design by Rachel Hauck, lighting design by Oona Curley, sound design by Elisabeth Weidner, and costume design by David F. Zambrana. Allison Parker was stage manager, and Gregory Kostroff was audio engineer.

The work was developed and workshopped at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's City Theatre Company as a part of its 2018 Momentum Festival, and at the Colorado New Play Festival in 2009. The show played the wild project Off-Broadway in several limited engagements.
