More casting has been revealed for the upcoming staged showcase performances of developing musical Watcher in the Woods. The new work, based on Florence Engel Randall's novel, features music and orchestrations by Johanna Telander and a book and lyrics by Douglas Thompson. Chase Kniffen is directing the upcoming performances, set to be held at UrbanStages in NYC September 11-15.

Broadway favorite Jackie Hoffman will star as Mrs. Thayer, opposite Felicia Curry as Mrs. Fleming, Charlotte MacLeod as Young Saundra, and Honor Blue Savage as Ellie. Camilla Backman and Melody Munitz will be "The Watcher Voice." They join previously announced cast members Sophia Manicone as Jan and Karen Aylwood, Natalie Toro as Mrs. Aylwood, Carson Worthy as Mark/Marcus/Charlie, and Rachel Zatcoff as Kate and Janet Fleming.

Described as a "supernatural family drama," the musical is set in summer 1976 as Jan, still haunted by the traumatic loss of her father, moves into an old house in the woods with her mom and little sister. Forces she cannot see, and feelings that are not hers, compel Jan to unlock the 50-year-old mystery of a young girl's disappearance in the woods.

NYC industry readings were held earlier this year. MacLeod is reprising her performance for the upcoming performances.

Kniffen is also designing the production's sets, leading a creative team that also includes music director Brian Walters, costume designer David Marmon, lighting designer Joe Doran, sound designer Elisabeth Weidner, and hair and wig designer Bryan Gonzalez. Casting is by Meredith Hoddeson, and Michelle Elizabeth will be production stage manager.
