Goodspeed Musicals will kick off its season May 13-July 3 with John Kander and Fred Ebb's Tony-winning 1966 Broadway musical Cabaret at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Connecticut.
James Vásquez will direct with choreography by Lainie Sakakura, who has been given special permission from the Verdon/Fosse Legacy to reconstruct Bob Fosse’s original choreography to "Mein Herr" from the musical's 1972 film adaptation.
Jelani Remy (Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations) will play the Master of Ceremonies opposite the Sally Bowles of Aline Mayagoitia (Notes From Now, Forbidden Broadway: The Next Generation) with Bruce Landry (Les Misérables) as Clifford Bradshaw, Jennifer Smith (The Secret Garden) as Fraulein Schneider, Kevin Ligon (Hello, Dolly!) as Herr Schultz, Terra C. MacLeod (Chicago) as Fraulein Kost, and Tim Fuchs (Something Rotten) as Ernst Ludwig.
The ensemble will feature Matt Allen (Escape to Margaritaville), Shelby Finnie (The Prom), Aurore Joly, Caroline Kane, Kathy Liu, Connor McRory (Goodspeed's Billy Elliott), Christian Elán Ortiz (West Side Story), Antonia Raye, and Adam Rogers (Cinderella) plus swing Georgia Monroe.
Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood, Cabaret features a book by Joe Masteroff, music by Kander, and lyrics by Ebb.
The production will also have music direction by Adam Souza, scenic design by Michael Schweikardt, sound design by Jay Hilton, costume design by Lex Liang, lighting design by Amanda Zieve, wig and hair design by Jayson P. Hayes, fight direction by UnkleDave’s Fight-House, dialect coaching by Jennifer Scapetis-Tycer, and casting by Paul Hardt of Hardt Casting. Bradley G. Spachman is the production stage manager.
