The new play, by The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Tony winner Simon Stephens, sees two beguiling strangers quickly embark on a life-changing journey. Directed by Mark Brokaw, the Broadway transfer will begin previews Sept. 20 and officially open at MTC's Friedman Oct. 13.
"Amidst the bustle of a crowded London train station, Georgie spots Alex, a much older man, and plants a kiss on his neck," state production notes. "This electric encounter thrusts these two strangers into a fascinating and life-changing game. Directed by Drama Desk Award winner Mark Brokaw (How I Learned to Drive), Heisenberg brings to blazing, theatrical life the uncertain and often comical sparring match that is human connection."
"Simon Stephens is one of the most exceptional playwrights in a new generation of exciting writers who are working in the theatre today," said MTC artistic director Lynne Meadow in a press statement. "I am thrilled to bring to Broadway Simon's compelling and insightful Heisenberg, which MTC commissioned and produced in our Stage II at City Center. Many more theatregoers will get to see the amazing Mary-Louise Parker and Denis Arndt in the funny, quirky, and moving production."
The creative team includes Mark Wendland (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Donald Holder (lighting design) and David Van Tieghem (sound design).
New and renewing subscribers can purchase tickets to Heisenberg by calling The MTC Clubline at (212) 399-3050. Single ticket information will be announced at a later date. The Samuel J. Friedman Theatre is located at 261 West 47th St.
