How very! Cult favorite Heathers the Musical will return to New York via New World Stages, where it first made its Off-Broadway debut. The limited engagement will begin June 22 and play through September 28.

Andy Fickman, who staged the original Off-Broadway production and subsequent U.K. engagements, will direct. The production will be based on the version that recently wrapped up its tour in the U.K.

Heathers the Musical follows Westerberg High student Veronica Sawyer, who's on track to become one of the most popular girls in school after befriending the beautiful but cruel Heathers, only to meet a mysterious teen rebel who changes everything. News broke last September that the production would return to New York in 2025, though it was not yet clear in what capacity.

Based on the 1989 film by Daniel Waters, Heathers the Musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O'Keefe. The musical adaptation premiered with a sold-out run in Los Angeles in 2013, and transferred to New World Stages in 2014. The authors revised the show for a 2018 West End run, before playing two national tours and a West End encore engagement—several new songs and script changes that will be heard in New York for the first time in the forthcoming run.
