Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs' musical Teeth is getting an open-ended Off-Broadway run at New World Stages, a commercial transfer that follows its extended and sold-out world premiere run at Off-Broadway's Playwrights Horizons earlier this year. Performances will begin in October, with dates and casting to be announced.
Adapted from the 2007 horror comedy film of the same name, Teeth features a book and music by Jacobs and book and lyrics by Jackson, the latter a Pulitzer and Tony winner for A Strange Loop. The story follows evangelical Christian teenager Dawn O'Keefe, whose body bites back when men try to violate her.
The Off-Broadway world premiere began performances February 21 at Playwrights Horizons and officially opened March 19. Read the reviews here.
Sarah Benson will return to direct after staging the world premiere, with Raja Feather Kelly also back to choreograph. Further creative team members are to be announced.
