Bonnie & Clyde, Frank Wildhorn's 2011 Broadway musical, will make its London debut April 9 at the Arts Theatre. The upcoming staging will mark composer Wildhorn's first musical to have a full production mounted in the West End.

Nick Winston will direct with set and costume design by Philip Whitcomb.

The news was revealed at the January 18 performance of Bonnie & Clyde The Musical in Concert at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Bonnie and Clyde creators Wildhorn, Don Black, and Ivan Menchell were present for this announcement along with producer Dan Looney from the DLAP Group.

The January 17-18 concerts—featuring Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan reprising his Broadway role alongside the West End's Frances Mayli McCann (McCann previously replaced the originally reported Tony nominee Laura Osnes)—were filmed for future release. Distribution details of the film, produced by David Treatman Creative, STEAM Motion and Sound, Fourth Wall Live, and DLAP Group, have yet to be confirmed.

Casting, performance dates, and additional creative team members for the London run will be announced at a later time.  For additional information visit BonnieandClydemusical.com.

With music by Tony nominee Wildhorn (Wonderland, Jekyll & Hyde, The Civil War, The Scarlet Pimpernel), lyrics by Tony winner Black (Sunset Boulevard), and a book by Menchell (The Cemetery Club), Bonnie & Clyde played Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre November 4-December 30, 2011, directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun. Center stage, with guns in their hands as the title characters, were Tony nominees Jordan and Osnes.

Melissa Van der Schyff originated the role of Blanche Barrow, and Claybourne Elder originated the role of Buck Barrow when Bonnie & Clyde first appeared, at the La Jolla Playhouse in fall 2009. It was named Best Musical by San Diego Theatre Critics Circle. They reprised their roles in fall 2010 when the show ran to critical acclaim at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota.

It's a particularly busy time for composer Wildhorn, who was commissioned to write a full-scale symphony that was recorded by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and released on CD December 10, 2021, by MG-SOUND Studios. The full-length piece, titled Danube Symphony, will be performed live by the Vienna Symphony November 4 at the Konzerthaus Wien. Wildhorn is also composing the music for Peter The Great, which features lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Konstantin Rubinsky and will open December 1 in St. Petersburg, Russia. And, productions of Wildhorn's Xcalibur will be seen in Korea January 29, and The Man Who Laughs and Never Say Goodbye in Japan in February.
