Schwartz was moved to make this single happen after hearing Garnyé sing the tune, originally written as a standalone song for Cass Morgan, at the Vanguard Voice Award ceremony. The Wicked composer had two versions of the single recorded, a full orchestral version, and another, more intimate arrangement featuring Schwartz on piano. The single is featured in the film Jimmy and Carolyn, now available for streaming.
“Stephen Schwartz has a way of writing songs that remain timeless,” says Club44 co-founder and single co-producer Wayne Haun in a statement. “Their impact and relevance are forever. There are also voices that are timeless… voices so unique one can hear only a phrase and immediately identify the singer. That’s Julie Garnyé. Combine the talents of these two brilliant souls and something magical happens that cannot be explained, but must be experienced.”
Garnyé's stage credits include Les Misérables at the Hollywood Bowl, Hair, Chess, Children of Eden, Pippin, and Cats. She regularly appears in Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland Jazz.
