Tony winner Debra Monk will lead an upcoming NYC industry readings of Kelly Strandemo's new play Primary, being presented by New Hampshire's Weathervane Theatre, Out of the Box Theatrics, and Breukelen Stage and Film. The private readings will be offered February 27 at 5 PM and February 28 at 1 PM at ART/NY's Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre.
Ethan Paulini will direct the readings, which will also feature Michael X. Martin, Kathy Deitch, Robert H. Fowler, Jason Xing Hart, Kimi Handa Brown, Liz Flemming, and Michael J. Connolly. Egypt Dixon is stage managing.
The political comedy takes place in the middle of election season in New Hampshire. A small town is thrilled when a new family moves in, until those new residents turn out not to be in line with the small town's "traditional" values.
The industry readings are being given ahead of a world premiere production at Weathervane Theatre, with performances set for October 11–14. The work is the theatre's first-ever commission.
