Peter Pan Goes Wrong is set to fly into Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre via Center Theatre Group for a West Coast premiere running August 8-September 10, with opening night August 11. Just like the recent Broadway bow, the California run will feature special celebrity guest stars appearing as Francis, the evening's narrator. The Los Angeles run will feature The West Wing and tick, tick...BOOM! star Bradley Whitford August 9-20 and Hawaii 5-0 and Lost star Daniel Dae Kim August 30-September 10.
“I'm thrilled to continue our friendship with the brilliant Bradley Whitford, who was most recently seen on stage at the Ahmanson as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, which was unfortunately cut short due to the pandemic," says CTG Producing Director Douglas C. Baker in a statement. "I am also delighted to introduce a familiar face to the Ahmanson stage, as Daniel Dae Kim makes his Center Theatre Group debut. One of the most popular and extraordinary actors in all mediums, Daniel is also a dedicated stage craftsman, who has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and London. CTG welcomes both Bradley and Daniel into the fun, funny, and farcical world of Peter Pan Goes Wrong."
A follow-up to The Play That Goes Wrong, again written by Mischief company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, Peter Pan Goes Wrong sees the Cornley Drama Society back to present another play‚ J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, with yet more technical misfires. The work made its world premiere at London's Pleasance Theatre in 2013 and its West End debut in 2015 following a U.K. tour. The play was adapted as a TV special for BBC One in 2016, and made its North American premiere in 2022 at Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Canada. A Broadway bow ran March 17–July 23.
Much of the play's Broadway cast is continuing on to the West Coast premiere, including Matthew Cavendish as Max, Chris Leask as Trevor, Henry Lewis as Robert, Ellie Morris as Lucy, Charlie Russell as Sandra, Jonathan Sayer as Dennis, Henry Shields as Chris, Greg Tannahill as Jonathan, and Nancy Zamit as Annie. They're joined by Ryan Vincent Anderson as Gill and Harry Kershaw as Francis, along with Stephen James Anthony, Blair Baker, Bartley Booz, and Brenann Stacker.
Adam Meggido directs, leading a creative team that includes scenic designer Simon Scullion, costume designer Roberto Surace, lighting designer Matt Haskins, sound designer Ella Wahlström, and co-composers Richard Baker and Rob Falconer.
Since Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Mischief has mostly relegated its Goes Wrong entries to the small screen. A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong aired on BBC One in 2017, followed by an 11-part series The Goes Wrong Show that aired in 2019 and 2021. A 2020 Christmas special, also on the BBC, saw the Cornley Dramatic Society stage the Nativity.
