CSC Revival of I Can Get It for You Wholesale, Starring Santino Fontana, Extends Off-Broadway

Classic Stage Company's revival of the 1962 Broadway musical I Can Get It for You Wholesale, which began previews Off-Broadway October 10 prior to an official opening October 30, has extended its limited engagement by two weeks.

CSC's 2023-2024 season—the first programmed by new Producing Artistic Director Jill Rafson—launches with the revival, which was originally scheduled to continue through December 3. The production will now conclude performances December 17.

Directed by Trip Cullman (Choir Boy), the cast includes Tony winner Santino Fontana (Tootsie) as Harry Bogen and Tony nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, Chess) as Mrs. Bogen with 2023 Into the Woods Tony nominee Julia Lester as Miss Marmelstein (the part famously created by Barbra Streisand), Adam Chanler-Berat (CSC’s Assassins) as Meyer Bushkin, Eddie Cooper (CSC’s Assassins) as Tootsie Maltz/Ensemble, Adam Grupper (Pictures From Home) as Maurice Pulvermacher, Greg Hildreth (Company) as Teddy Asch, Rebecca Naomi Jones (Oklahoma!) as Ruthie Rivkin, Hayley Podschun as Miss Springer/Ensemble, Sarah Steele (The Humans) as Blanche Bushkin, Joy Woods (Little Shop of Horrors) as Martha Mills, Victor de Paula Rocha (The Sound of Music) as Sheldon/Young Harry, and Darron Hayes (Kimberly Akimbo) as Ensemble. Understudies include Ephie Aardema, Jennifer Babiak, Billy Cohen, Darron Hayes, and John Plumpis.

Featuring a book by Jerome Weidman, based on his novel, and music and lyrics by Harold Rome, the production features a revised libretto by Weidman’s son, John Weidman (Pacific Overtures, Assassins). I Can Get It for You Wholesale is set in 1937 in New York City's Garment District and follows Bronx-born shipping clerk Harry Bogen (Fontana), who must choose between the comfort of community and his own ambitious dreams.

The CSC production also has scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Sun Hee Kil, choreography by Ellenore Scott, a score arranged and adapted by David Chase, and music direction and orchestrations by Jacinth Greywoode.
