The reading will be followed by a reception with the cast and director, Ian Belknap, artistic director of The Acting Company.
“S. N. Behrman enjoyed a long and prolific career as a dramatist, author and contributor to The New Yorker,” noted Belknap. “His plays and movies featured some of the most important actors of the 20th Century: Alfred Lunt, Lynne Fontaine, Noel Coward, Katharine Cornell, Laurence Olivier and Greta Garbo.”
Though they are not now frequently revived, his The Second Man (1927), End of Summer (1936), Amphitryon 38 (1937), No Time for Comedy (1939), Jacobowsky and the Colonel (1944) and the book for the musical Fanny (1954) were successes in their time.
